Transform your house into a home

A photo on your phone is nice. Seeing it every day on your wall — in a frame your guests stop to look at — that changes how a home feels.

The $300 session fee reserves your date, covers your planning call, the session and your theater reveal — and applies in full toward your artwork; most clients invest $1,500 or more.

We design everything: handcrafted albums and wall art from Graphi Studio and Dreambooks Pro. Built to be seen, felt, and lived with for decades.

Your portraits don’t belong in an app. They belong on your walls.

Frequently Asked Questions

La Crosse and Onalaska offer everything from personal spaces like backyard courts to public landmarks including Cass Street Bridge, Charmant Hotel, and downtown alleyways. J.L. Wiswell Photography customizes every session to reflect the individual, not a default location list.

Yes. Personal locations are encouraged. Alisha and Jeff build every session around who your son or daughter actually is, starting somewhere that belongs to them produces portraits specific to them, not generic to the genre. It’s one of the first things we talk through on your planning call.

Cass Street Bridge is a landmark bridge in La Crosse, Wisconsin spanning the Mississippi River corridor. Among the most sought-after senior portrait locations in the area, it’s known for dramatic light, open sky, and views that earn their reputation when timed right.

Aside from photographing worldwide, we do sessions in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem Sparta, Tomah, Winona, Caledonia, & La Crescent and the surrounding areas

Senior Pictures at Cass Street Bridge & Downtown La Crosse, WI

Some seniors walk in and you know immediately where to start. Sam Kick was one of them. Growing up in Onalaska playing basketball gave us our opening, his backyard court wasn’t a location choice so much as the most honest place we could have begun. Before a single word about posing, that court told us everything we needed to know. From there, we moved into La Crosse, a city that gave us something different at every turn. Sam is heading to UW-La Crosse next, which made downtown feel less like a backdrop and more like the right next chapter. Built around a person first and locations second, this session echoes what we created with Kaleb at Myrick Park and Cass Street Bridge, an approach that starts with who someone actually is.

The Locations — Backyard Court, Downtown Alleys, Charmant Hotel & Cass Street Bridge

We opened at Sam’s backyard basketball court in Onalaska, a personal space that anchored everything before we ever touched a landmark. Downtown La Crosse alleyways came next: brick walls, narrow frames, and light pockets that flash photography turns cinematic in ways open streets never can. Charmant Hotel gave us a third mood entirely, with refined architecture and clean lines two blocks from where we had just shot gritty alley frames. We finished at Cass Street Bridge, a La Crosse landmark where light off the Mississippi River corridor delivers exactly when you need it most. Four locations. One session. All Sam.

Why Personal Locations Change Everything

What separates a portrait that looks like someone from one that could be anyone is almost always found in details, spaces that belong to a person before a camera ever arrives. Starting at Sam’s court in Onalaska gave his session an anchor no landmark could have provided. Decisions like that get made on a FaceTime planning call before the session ever starts, so nothing is left to chance on the day. Once we were shooting, Alisha, our posing director and comfort builder, closed the gap between stiff and natural faster than any single location could. Most seniors haven’t stood in front of a professional camera before. By the time we hit downtown alleyways, Sam was moving like he had done this for years. ‘It felt more like an ESPN shoot than senior photos,’ he said. Hitting that mark is what we are after every time. You can see how that same approach translated for Brayden at Leithold Music, a personal space, a session that defined rather than documented.
